Wedding Industry Experts Honour Roll Recognition

 I am happy to announce that Melanie Shields Photography has been selected for the Wedding Industry Experts 2014 Honour Roll.

The WeddingIndustryExperts.com team asked Wedding Professionals around the world - "Who has inspired you in your local wedding community?" After reviewing email referrals from across the globe, they put together their first annual list of Honour Roll members and I'm happy to announce that I am one of them!

 

It's because of my wonderful clients that I get to do what I love and to meet so many other wedding industry professionals.  I’m honoured (no pun intended) to receive this recognition and want to thank everyone who has supported me along the way.

This wedding was special because, not only are the couple hilariously awesome, they also had a two part wedding. Because of timing and family, the wedding was split into ceremony over Christmas break and reception on their wedding date January 11th.
It worked out wonderfully because one day was chilly but freezing rain and the other was warm with rain and we managed to still get beautiful outdoor portraits in the 6 minutes we were outside.

Annual Ottawa Boudoir Marathon: January 2013 (Valentine's edition!)

Masquerade Birthday Photobooth

To end March I had the awesome privilege of photographing a wonderful woman's milestone Birthday. The theme was masquerade and the more we chatted about the big celebration the more Susan fell in love with the thought of Damask accents. By the time I got there to set up on the day of, the house was filled with damask in every room and it reminded me of home (but of course more beautiful)

Now some people are saying that viewer's choice awards aren't really awards because a panel  of your talented fellow industry professionals don't award you but honestly I think it's even better that my clients actively go out of their way to vote for me each day to tell me how much my service meant to them.

And I couldn't be more flattered by being nominated and last year, winning 4 awards. Being a small business owner, a 1 person studio, your own marketer, business consultant, media spokesperson, photographer,  editor, etc. is draining and it's these small rewards that make it all worth doing each and everyday until I'm about 79, then I'm quitting because that is too old for this young (wo)man's game.
